About Lauren Ball-Tisdale

Transitions Dressage LLC was developed in 2003. This training, teaching and sales business is owned and operated by Lauren Ball Tisdale. Lauren is a U.S.D.F. Bronze and Silver Medalist as well as a recipient of the U.S.D.F. Bronze Bar Freestyle Award.

Lauren began her riding career at the age of three. At the age of thirteen she discovered dressage when she had the opportunity to ride and show Margaret McElhany's, Banker's Change, Lauren in 1981 on her first (and last) pony -- 'Kiss Me Kate.'a Grand Prix schoolmaster. This partnership between horse and rider not only earned Lauren her U.S.D.F. Bronze Medal, but also taught her just how challenging and rewarding dressage could be. Lauren continued her dressage education by riding "B.C." and many other great teachers, occasionally doing clinics with Carole Grant Oldford.

At the age of eighteen, Lauren began working with Charlotte Bayley. She became Charlotte's working student learning many invaluable lessons about training, teaching and operating a business. She supplemented her education by riding in clinics with Major Miguel Travora, a NCAS Level III Instructor (dressage specialist) Lauren, age 14, competing Margaret McElhaney's 'Bankers Change'who has trained many horses and riders to Grand Prix. By the age of twenty, Lauren had accumulated enough experience with great horses and cultivated a large enough client base to become a professional dressage trainer. She was then presented the rare opportunity to train and show with The Royal Lipizzaner Stallion Show. Traveling for three months throughout Australia and New Zealand, she learned to handle and work with stallions, and mastered the extremely challenging airs-above-ground and work-in-hand techniques. Upon her return to Cleveland she was able to put to use many of the experiences she gained from these amazing horses. It was then that she truly began to build her teaching and training business that would later become Transitions Dressage LLC.

Since December 2003, Lauren and George.Lauren has been training full time with George Williams. In 2004, Lauren and her Dutch Warmblood gelding, Karsen traveled to Wellington, Florida. There they had the wonderful experience of training daily with George as well as competing at the Wellington dressage shows. Lauren travels monthly to Gypsy Woods Farm, to continue training with George.

In 2002, Lauren was invited to participate in the U.S.D.F. Musical Freestyle Symposium in Raleigh, NC. She rode Idlehour McHenry, (Cindy Bank, owner) in the Symposium, a seven-year-old Cleveland Bay/Thoroughbred cross that she had been working with since he was four years old. The year previous they had ridden to the U.S.D.F. Region Two Championship at First Level Open and Second Level Freestyle. Their past success helped earn the demonstration spot at the Symposium. Henry is now ready to compete at Prix St. Georges.

Lauren has had great success with Arabian dressage horses. She and her students have earned several Arabian Horse Association National and Regional Champion, Reserve Champion, Lauren and Sheri Israel's FM Kaswyn winning at 2003 SHNTop Ten, and Top Five honors. Sheri Israel and her purebred Arabian gelding, FM Kasywn +// have been working with Lauren for nearly six years. When Lauren began working with the pair, they were training at First level. Lauren is now preparing Kaswyn for his first Grand Prix in the spring of 2006. Lauren and Kaswyn competed at Arabian Sport Horse Nationals in 2003 and 2005. In 2003, the pair was National Champion at Fourth Level and Prix St. Georges. In 2005, they earned Reserve National Champion at Prix St. Georges at Intermediare. She has also competed Susan Mickovic's purebred Arabian gelding, Tariq El Kaiyoum at Training and First Levels. In 2003, Lauren and Albert were Reserve National Champions at First Level.

In April of 2005, Lauren was invited to participate in the first ever Young Horse Lauren participating in Miguel Tavora Clinic with Carey Smith's 'Randeck' Summer 1999Dressage Trainer's Symposium. This wonderful program was organized and hosted by Hilltop Farm in Colora, Maryland. Lauren was selected out of over 230 applicants. She took along Gayle Visani's five-year-old Oldenburg mare that Lauren has been working with since she was three. There the pair had the opportunity to work with Scott Hassler, Ingo Pape and Dr. Ulf Moller. The Symposium emphasized the importance of proper early training to ensure the young horses can make appropriate progress along the Training Scale. Lauren has continued to attend the Young Horse Dressage Trainers Symposium. She accepted the invitation to return in 2006 and 2007.

Lauren spent the 2008 winter season in Wellington, Florida training with George Williams. Again, Lauren enjoyed the frequent lessons with George and invaluable input from him.
